School Policies & Code of Conduct
Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar prioritises the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being of every student. These guidelines help our community stay safe, disciplined and thriving.
General Guidelines
Everyday expectations
- Almanac
- Students must carry their school almanac daily, with photographs properly affixed and parent signatures in place.
- Student Details
- Parents should provide and keep updated their professional and personal contact information for security purposes.
- Identity Card
- Mandatory daily wear; parents must carry their ID cards when visiting the school.
- Punctuality & Regularity
- A minimum of 75% attendance is mandatory to appear for the Final Examination.
- Books & Notebooks
- Textbooks, notebooks and worksheets must be carried as per the day’s timetable.
- Leave Policy
- Leave for any reason other than medical must be applied for in advance by email, the Edunext App or an almanac note. Half-day leave is granted only for medical or other emergencies at home, and short leave is discouraged on examination days.
- Cleanliness
- The school promotes the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan; graffiti and scribbling are prohibited.
- School Property
- Damage must be reported immediately; fines apply for intentional harm.
- Uniform
- Must be worn on all working days, functions and PTMs to maintain school spirit.
- Phone Use
- Students cannot use school phones without authorisation; calls during school hours are not entertained.
- Birthday Celebrations
- Only chocolates or sweets up to ₹30 per child are permitted – no cakes or gifts. Students wear school uniform on their birthdays as well.
- Cafeteria
- Access is permitted during breaks only.
- No Tiffin Policy
- Tiffin is not accepted once the school day has started, and stationery, books or projects cannot be brought in after a student has entered the premises.
- PTM Attendance
- Absence from a scheduled PTM marks the student absent for the day.
- Student Pickup
- Written notice is required; a parent ID is mandatory for security.
Prohibited Items & Conduct
What isn’t allowed
- Mobile Phones / Gadgets
- Prohibited unless officially approved; approved phones must be deposited at the reception in the morning and collected at the time of dispersal.
- Inappropriate Language / Behaviour
- Violence and disrespect are strictly forbidden.
- Social Media
- Unofficial groups and negative posts lead to disciplinary action.
- Tobacco
- The school is tobacco-free within 100 yards; violations result in severe punishment.
- Deodorants / Perfume Sprays
- Will be confiscated.
- Damage / Breakage
- Students pay for any damage; conduct detrimental to others may result in suspension or expulsion.
- Sharp Instruments
- Blades, knives, paper-scalpels, scissors and other sharp-edged instruments are prohibited.
- Irrelevant Materials
- Non-prescribed books and magazines require teacher permission.
- Lending / Borrowing
- Money and articles cannot be exchanged at school.
- Crackers / Colour Splashing
- Forbidden during festivals; non-compliance leads to expulsion.
- Polybags
- Plastic bags are prohibited; environmental consciousness is expected.
Parent Guidelines
Partnering with families
A few practices from parents keep the school day smooth and safe for every child.
- School gates close at 7:55 a.m. sharp.
- Children should carry one fruit daily for break time.
- Books and notebooks per the timetable are required.
- Bridge classes are offered 2:00–3:00 p.m. for academic support.
- Daily sports coaching is available.
- English communication is encouraged at home.
- Parents must sign reports, test papers and documents.
- Internet use requires parental monitoring.
- Phones should be on silent mode on school premises.
- Vehicles must be parked responsibly, away from the gates.

Rules for students & staff
- Membership
- All students and staff may contribute suggestions via register, email or Google Sheets.
- Borrowing
- Books are borrowed during school hours only; reference materials and current periodicals are consulted in-library. The librarian may recall items as needed.
- Book Handling
- Marking, underlining or writing is prohibited; lost or misused books must be replaced or compensated at current market value. Overdue items receive reminders.
- Use of Materials
- Return items to their designated places after use; reference materials remain in the library.
- Environment
- Careful handling of furniture and equipment is required; food and beverages are prohibited.
- Computer Usage
- For academic purposes only; tampering with settings is strictly forbidden and internet-safety policies are enforced.
- Clearance
- Withdrawing or transferring students must obtain a No Dues Certificate.

Payment methods
- Payment through the School ERP Portal is preferred.
- Online, cheque or draft options are accepted (payable to Salwan Public School).
- Payment at the Accounts Office: 10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., Monday–Saturday.
- Fees in cash will not be accepted.
- Dishonoured-cheque charges are recovered from parents.

Late-fee fine policy
- 11th–20th of the month: ₹250 fine.
- 21st–last working day: ₹750 fine.
- Applies to transport-fee delays as well.
- Bounced cheques constitute late payment and are subject to additional bank charges.
Transfer Certificate (TC)
- A minimum of one month’s prior notice is required.
- All dues must be cleared before issuance.
- A cancelled TC requires a fresh re-admission application.

- Prescribed uniform only; no colour or fabric modifications are allowed.
- Low-rise trousers and short kurtis are prohibited.
- Shirts must be tucked in at all times.
- Prescribed shoe pattern and colour only.
- No jewellery, makeup, henna or hair colour is permitted.
Summer uniform (April–September 2026)
- Nursery–KG
- Yellow shirt; grey shorts (boys), grey tunics (girls).
- I–XII
- Blue half-sleeve shirt; beige skirt for girls I–VIII; kurti and pants for girls IX–XII; beige shorts for boys I–V; beige trousers for boys VI–XII.
Winter uniform (November 2026–March 2027)
- Nursery–KG
- Track suits for girls and boys.
- I–XII
- Blue full-sleeve shirt; beige skirt with stockings for girls I–VIII; full-sleeve kurti and pants for girls IX–XII; beige trousers for boys I–XII; sweater and jacket (I–VIII) or blazer (IX–XII).

Students selected for sports teams wear designated team uniforms when representing the school.
