A Stellar Performance that Brings Laurels to the School

The Zone 2 Team secured an impressive 2nd position in the Delhi School State Games – Cricket Tournament on 09 September 2026. Adding to this remarkable achievement, Aadya, a proud member of the Zone 2 Team, delivered an outstanding performance and was conferred the titles of Best All-Rounder in Delhi State and Best Player of the Tournament.

Her exceptional sporting prowess, versatility and consistent performance were instrumental in making this achievement truly memorable. The accolades stand as a testament to her talent, dedication and sporting spirit, bringing immense pride to the school and inspiring fellow students to pursue excellence on the field.

A commendable display of scientific acumen and curiosity

On 08 September 2026, three students of Class X represented the school at the DoE Centre-Level Science Quiz Competition, having successfully qualified at the Zonal Level. The competition featured five challenging rounds, with winning teams from various zones competing for the top honours. Demonstrating commendable scientific knowledge, presence of mind and teamwork, our students advanced through four rounds, narrowly missing the opportunity to participate in the final round. Their performance reflected their enthusiasm for scientific learning and their ability to apply knowledge with confidence under competitive conditions. The students were awarded certificates in recognition of their commendable performance. Their achievement is a proud reflection of the school’s endeavour to nurture curiosity, critical thinking and a spirit of healthy competition among learners.

Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar proudly celebrates the conferment of the prestigious Delhi State Teacher’s Award – Shikshak Mahakumbh 2026 upon Capt. Richa Sharma Katyal, Principal, SPSMV, by the Directorate of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi, on Teachers’ Day, 05 September 2026.
This distinguished recognition honours her visionary leadership, exemplary dedication, and unstinted commitment to educational excellence and holistic development of learners.

It is a matter of great pride to share that Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar has secured the First Position at the National Level CII School Competition, held today as part of the 10th CII Global School Education Summit.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), through its School Forum, works extensively in the area of school education, The CII School Competition is an annual national-level platform that invites schools to present innovative and impactful practices in varied fields.

This year’s theme was ‘Integrating and Delivering Vocational Education in Schools in India.’ From entries received from across the country, only five schools were shortlisted as finalists to present their case studies before a jury comprising eminent members from academia and industry. SPS Mayur Vihar was the only school from Delhi to be shortlisted among the five.

Our case study presented the school’s approach to integrating vocational learning across stages—from the primary years to senior secondary—while connecting it with curricula in multiple domains, from basic to complex real-life experiences. A key component was our skill Saturday initiative, rooted in the philosophy of Mens et Manus - the ideology of MIT, USA, the coordination of mind and hand.
Through regular hands-on experiences, children develop practical skills, self-sufficiency, contemporary competencies and, importantly, dignity of labour and rootedness in real life.

The school Principal presented the school’s case study today. The jury and audience appreciated both the approach and its implementation, and the school was awarded the First Prize at the national level.

An Elocution Competition on the theme “Prime Minister’s Message from the Red Fort: Towards a Developed India” was organised on 02 September 2026, at Gandhi Darshan, Rajghat. Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar was represented by two students in the competition. The event was graced by Shri Vijay Goel, former Union Minister and Vice Chairman, Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, as the Chief Guest.

The school was represented by Anshil Anurag Tiwari of Class X-A in the English category and Harsimrat Kaur of Class X-C in the Hindi category. Both students delivered their speeches with confidence and clarity, sharing their views on the vision of Viksit Bharat and the role of the youth in contributing to the nation's progress.

On the following day, 03 September 2026, the students were felicitated at Gandhi Darshan, Rajghat, and presented with Certificates of Participation in recognition of their participation in the competition. Their participation reflected their enthusiasm for public speaking and their willingness to engage with themes of national importance.

Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar, proudly celebrated a significant achievement on Tuesday, 01 September 2026, when the school was presented with the prestigious Award and Certificate for Best Learning Outcomes at the ICOSA School Conclave, held at the India International Centre, Lodhi Road.

The recognition is a reflection of the school’s continued commitment to meaningful learning, academic excellence and the holistic development of its students.

Adding to the pride of the occasion, the school’s respected Vice Principal, Smt. Bhawna Puri, was also honoured for her exemplary teaching and outstandi

ng administrative skills. Her recognition acknowledges her dedicated leadership, commitment to excellence and valuable contribution to the school community.

The two honours made the occasion especially memorable for the entire school fraternity and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to creating an enriching and learner-centred educational environment.

On 27 August 2026, three students of Class X at SPSMV participated in the DoE Zonal Science Quiz Competition and brought laurels to the school

by securing the First Position. The students demonstrated excellent scientific knowledge, presence of mind, teamwork and confidence throughout the competition.

The quiz comprised four challenging rounds that tested the participants on various aspects of science, including conceptual understanding, application of knowledge, scientific reasoning and scientific awareness. The students performed consistently well in all four rounds and emerged as winners of the zonal-level competition. The event also provided them with a valuable opportunity to interact with students from other schools and experience a healthy spirit of competition.

Beyond their remarkable achievement, the competition proved to be an enriching learning experience for the participants. It helped them strengthen their scientific knowledge, sharpen their critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, improve their speed and accuracy, and enhance their confidence in tackling challenging questions.

With this commendable achievement, the three students have qualified for the Centre-Level Science Quiz Competition, bringing pride to the school.

On Monday, 24 August 2026, Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar hosted the DoE District Level Vocal Music (Classical) Competition for students of Classes VI to XI, bringing together talented student vocalists from various schools across the district. The event celebrated the richness of Indian classical music and provided a platform for young singers to showcase their musical talent, discipline and artistic expression.

The participants delivered soulful and well-prepared classical vocal performances, demonstrating their command over sur, taal and laya. Their dedication, confidence and passion for music were evident throughout the competition, making the event an enriching experience for everyone present.

The competition was judged by distinguished music experts Dr Ruchi Garg, Ustaad Abid Ali Khan Ji, Mr Arshul Ameen and Ms Barnali Das, whose valuable observations and encouragement inspired the participants and added to the prestige of the event.

We are proud to share that Tejasvi Anand, a student of our school, secured the 2nd Position in the Junior Girls Category. Her achievement is a matter of immense pride for the school and reflects her dedication and passion for classical music.

A Special Assembly on Milad-un-Nabi and Raksha Bandhan was held at Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar (SPSMV) on 25 August 2026, with great enthusiasm and a deep sense of togetherness. The programme highlighted the values of peace, compassion, harmony, courage, trust and respect, encouraging students to reflect upon the significance of both occasions.

The assembly commenced with a prayer to the Almighty, followed by an insightful speech by Rayyan of Class VIII on Milad-un-Nabi. He highlighted the significance of the occasion and the timeless values of peace, kindness, compassion and humanity, inspiring students to embrace these values in their daily lives.

The celebration of Raksha Bandhan was presented through a special skit titled ‘The Thread of Honour – Rani Karnavati’. The performance brought alive the inspiring story of Rani Karnavati, highlighting courage, trust and honour, while portraying Raksha Bandhan as a symbol of faith, protection and mutual respect.

Adding a musical touch to the assembly, the young students presented a melodious rendition of ‘Chap Tilak Sab Cheena Re’. Their graceful performance added warmth and a beautiful cultural dimension to the celebration.

Addressing the students, Capt Richa Sharma Katyal, Principal SPSMV, emphasised the importance of peace, kindness, care and respect, encouraging them to practise these values not only during festivals but also in their everyday lives.

The Special Assembly concluded on a meaningful note, reinforcing the message that festivals are opportunities to celebrate our cultural heritage while embracing values that strengthen relationships and bring people closer together.
