Special Assembly on Teachers’ Day and Janmashtami

A special assembly was organised at Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar by Shaurya House on 02 September 2026, to celebrate Teachers’ Day and Janmashtami, bringing together the values of gratitude, respect, devotion and righteousness. The assembly provided students with an opportunity to understand the deeper significance of both occasions and reflect upon the values they represent.

The assembly commenced with a heartwarming prayer, creating an atmosphere of peace and gratitude. This was followed by an inspiring Hindi song dedicated to teachers, which beautifully expressed the appreciation students hold for their teachers and mentors. A meaningful poem on the theme ‘Guru and Shishya’ was then recited.Adding grace and cultural richness to the celebration, students presented a dance performance depicting the childhood of Shri Krishna. The vibrant performance portrayed various aspects of Krishna’s childhood and conveyed the timeless values associated with his life and teachings.

The highlight of the assembly was the address by the Principal, Capt Richa Sharma Katyal (Retd), who inspired the students through her words. She spoke about the importance and significance of Teachers’ Day, encouraging students to recognise and value the contribution of teachers in their lives. She also spoke about Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose life and contribution to education are central to the observance of Teacher’s Day in India.

She further encouraged the students to understand the purpose behind celebrating Janmashtami, rather than treating it merely as a festival. Referring to the teachings associated with Shri Krishna and the concept of Dharma, she highlighted the importance of performing one’s duties with sincerity, standing for what is right, and making responsible choices in life.

The assembly successfully brought together the values of Guru–Shishya tradition and the teachings of Shri Krishna, reminding students that education is not merely about academic learning but also about developing character, values, responsibility and wisdom.

The special assembly concluded on a meaningful note, leaving the students with a deeper appreciation for their teachers and a better understanding of the significance of the two occasions.
