Rakshabandhan Celebrations: Honouring the Nation’s Bravehearts

As part of the Rakshabandhan celebrations, Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar organised and participated in a series of meaningful activities to express gratitude and respect towards the brave members of the Indian Army and the police force.

A Creative Handmade Rakhi Activity was organised for students of Classes III to VIII in collaboration with Pidilite Industries. The activity provided students with an opportunity to honour the contribution of the Indian Army and express their love, gratitude and respect towards the brave soldiers of the nation. The students participated enthusiastically and created colourful handmade Rakhis, fostering creativity while instilling the values of patriotism, gratitude and respect for the armed forces. The handmade Rakhis were collected by the organisers for delivery to the Indian Army before Raksha Bandhan on behalf of the students.

On 22 August 2026, the school participated in the ‘Rakshabandhan – Bond of Love’ programme organised by HQ 261 Artillery Brigade at Deep Striker Brigade, Delhi Cantt, in collaboration with Pidilite Industries Ltd. Students of Classes III to VIII made beautiful handmade Rakhis for soldiers posted in Ladakh, Kashmir and the North-East. These were collected for dispatch to the border areas. Three girl students from the school had the honour of tying Rakhis to Jawans, JCOs and Officers. They also received return gifts from the Brigade, making the occasion a proud and memorable experience.

Extending the spirit of Rakshabandhan, students of Classes KG to VII visited Ghazipur Police Station on 27 August 2026 to celebrate the festival and express their gratitude to the police personnel who tirelessly ensure the safety and security of society. Twenty girl students had the honour of tying Rakhis to police officers as a heartfelt gesture of respect and appreciation. The celebration was a meaningful experience for the students, fostering a sense of gratitude and respect towards those who serve the community and the nation with dedication.

The Rakshabandhan celebrations provided students with valuable opportunities to express their gratitude, respect and appreciation for the soldiers and police personnel who selflessly work for the safety and security of the nation.
